In Germany, the price level is generally lower than in Switzerland. If you want to look for accommodation in Germany, try to find a hotel near a tram stop of line #8 in Weil am Rhein, right across the border. From Weil am Rhein, Dreiländerbrücke, tram # 8 takes you within 15 minutes to Schifflände in Basel. Then it's a 7 minutes walk to the conference venue. If you have difficulties climbing stairs, bus # 34 takes you every 8 minutes from Schifflände to the University (2 stops). There is also an elevator.
Accommodation in France is also an option. Saint-Louis is some 3 km from the conference venue. There is a direct tram # 11 from Saint-Louis Grenze to Schifflände, or take bus # 4 (604) from Saint-Louis to Schifflände. From there it's a 7 minutes walk to the conference venue. If you have difficulties climbing stairs, bus # 34 takes you every 8 minutes from Schifflände to the University (2 stops). There is also an elevator.
